Welcome to the Kodachi Kwai Judo Web Site. Kodachi Kwai have appeared on the local Avon and Somerset Police web site not because they are on the wrong side of the law, but assisting them launching a new scheme aimed at ensuring disabled people are treated equally. The Disability Equality Scheme (DES) will be officially launched on Wednesday, November 29 by Deputy Chief Constable Stephen Otter at police headquarters in Portishead. The scheme has developed from the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 which comes into effect this December. This places a disability equality duty on organisations such as the police to ensure people with a disability have an equality of opportunity in both the services the organisation provides, and as employees of the force. Avon and Somerset's DES details the force's commitment to the disability equality duty and how it will track its progress. Wednesday's launch will feature drama, dance and judo displays by a number of local disability led groups.>Kodachi Special Needs Judo Club from Southville in Bristol will be demonstrating some of their moves Kodachi Kwai members are always grateful when any organisation raise funds on its behalf. A special mention must go to Nigel Thomas, brother of club member and former competitor, Ian Thomas who kindly arranged through his pub quiz organiser Steve Pennington to donate the quiz money to this club.
